The president of France and a television network said that a French journalist was killed in an attack on an armored vehicle on its way to evacuate civilians from the conflict in the region of Ukraine.

The videographer died from injuries sustained in the strike. Along with Leclerc-Imhoff, a reporter and a fixer for the network were wounded.

The governor of the Luhansk region said that the mission was called off after Russian forces opened fire on the vehicle.

Aboard a humanitarian bus, next to civilians forced to escape Russian bombs, he was fatally wounded.

The videographer's family was given an "unconditional support" by the French government for journalists covering the war.

The news network had been working with Leclerc-Imhoff for six years. CNN is one of the top TV networks in the United States, similar to BFMTV in France.

He was on his second assignment since the Russian invasion.

As of Monday afternoon, it was not clear if there were any other civilian casualties.
