Todd Boehly is an American investor who led the consortium that completed the sale of Chelsea.
The club was put up for sale in March before Roman Abramovich was hit with sanctions over his links to Putin.
The special government licence that was used to operate Chelsea would have expired on May 31st.
Boehly said in a statement that he wanted to make fans proud.
A sale process that started on 2 March and comprised more than 250 inquiries resulted in his group becoming the new owners.
He said that they were honoured to become the new custodians of the club.
We are all in, 100%, every minute of every match. We want to make the fans proud.
Along with our commitment to developing the youth squad and acquiring the best talent, our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long term and build on the history of success.
I would like to thank the ministers and officials in the British government and the premier league for their work in making this happen.
The UK government does not want the proceeds of the club's sale to be given toAbramovich and instead will donate them to victims of the war in Ukraine.
More to come.
