At least 17 people were killed when a plane crashed in the mountains of Nepal.

Rescuers were still looking for the remaining five on Monday.

The Tara Air plane lost contact with air traffic control around 15 minutes into its 20-minute flight.

Sky News reported that it took off from Pokhara and was headed to Jomsom.

17 bodies were recovered from the crash site, and the search was continuing for the other people, The Associated Press reported.

It wasn't clear if any of the five people were still alive.

Sudarshan Bartaula said that some bodies were stuck under the plane.

He said that the rescuers had no tools that would allow them to reach the bodies.

It took rescuers around 24 hours to find the wreck in the mountains.

There is no cause for the crash.

The plane was 43 years old.
