Cooper was traded to the Cleveland Browns. Michael Gallup will not be back until late September after he tore a knee anterior cruciate ligament. After the Cowboys selected Lamb in the first round in 2020, he was destined to be their clear-cut top wide receiver. Lamb said after the first organized team activity last week that he felt like that was just part of him. I approach the game that way. If you will, I will have this pressure on my back. Lamb won't feel the pressure in May, but things will change in September when the games are real. Tim Brown, a Hall of Fame receiver, said that he thinks that CeeDee is going to have a lot more attention on him and how he deals with that will tell the tale. You have to learn how to beat double coverage and sometimes triple coverage. I think that will be a big adjustment for him. Lamb has seen more attention in his first two years, but there was always a sense of comfort that he was playing with other people. The Chiefs rookies are "relentless."

The Cowboys could have James Washington, who had 24 catches a year ago for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and third-round pick Jalen Tolbert as their Nos. 2 and 3 receivers while Gallup recovers. The Miami Dolphins signed Wilson in March.
Lamb was added to the Pro Bowl last season after leading the Cowboys with 81 catches for 1,102 yards and eight touchdown. He had 2,037 yards in his first two seasons, which is more than any other player in the history of the team.
Lamb's rise to the No. 1 is similar to that of Bryant. The Cowboys never thought Bryant would be available where they picked in the 2010 draft, but moved up to get him. Bryant had Miles Austin as the No. 1 receiver when he was a first-year player.
Bryant had an average of 91 catches for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdown from 2012 to 14.
Mike McCarthy said that this is a great opportunity for Lamb.
He is going to get a lot more attention from the defense in Year 3. He is doing all of the little things that are needed to get him ready to be the top guy.
Lamb's locker is located in the area of tangible change. Lamb was moved next to him, a position Cooper used to hold.
I was a little lonely and I decided that he was the guy.
Brown had a left knee injury in his second season and the Raiders wanted to keep him as an elite punt returner and third-down receiver. Brown's run of nine straight 1,000-yard seasons began when Mervyn Fernandez got hurt.
Brown's job was more difficult because he said he had 20 different quarterbacks with the Raiders, but the Cowboys had four different starting quarterbacks.
I talked to a lot of the young guys, trying to let them know that I trust them and that they can always go back to that.
There has been a connection between Lamb and Prescott from the beginning. His two 100 yard games as a rookies came with him as the quarterback for seven of the eight quarters. They had two more 100 yard games last year, including Lamb's nine-catch, 149-yard, two-touchdown effort against the New England Pats.
Their lockers are next to each other, and they sit in the same row during offensive meetings.
They are aware of the details.
The whole offense has hung their hat on that and it is getting better.
Lamb has never gone unrecognized because of his success at Oklahoma, but he knows the Cowboys will need more.
Lamb said that everyone in the locker room can count on him. I want to be held accountable. I want to be that guy.
