Over the Memorial Day weekend, a total of 959 U.S. flights have been canceled.
More than 500 flights arriving in or departing from the United States were canceled or delayed over the weekend, according to flight tracking platform FlightAware.
Delta Air Lines was the U.S.-based airline with the most canceled flights over the weekend, with 413, followed by Republic Airways with 137 and Cape Air with 67.
Delta told CNN that it is trying to give passengers at least 24 hours notice of canceled flights due to unfavorable weather and air traffic control actions.
Delta's service has been affected by staff absences due to Covid-19, the airline's Chief Customer Experience Officer said in a statement.
Newark's airport had the most canceled flights, followed by Atlanta's and New York's airports.

Delta will reduce its service by about 100 flights per day from July 1 to August 7, affecting markets in the U.S. and Latin America. The airline said the weather, staffing levels and employee Covid-19 cases were reasons for the cancellation.

According to Hopper, the average cost of a round-trip airfare in the US will be $394 this Memorial Day, an increase of 28% compared to Memorial Day 2019.
More than 2,600 flights were canceled on New Year's Day.
