In an interview on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger said that raising the age requirement for gun purchases to 21 is a no brainer.

The human brain develops and matures between the ages of 18 and 21.

His comments come after the recent mass shootings across the country including at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and a local grocery store in Buffalo, New York.

Kinzinger pointed out the similarities between the two incidents, as well as the school shooter who was under the age of 21. All the incidents are among the worst mass shootings in US history.

The congressman said that they raised the age of purchasing cigarettes to 21 without so much as a blink.

Kinzinger was asked if he agrees with Murphy, who supports banning assault weapons.

Kinzinger said that he was ready to engage in that conversation and possibly not sell them anymore.

The first thing we can do is raise the age to 21. I think to look at the discussion as a short and near term target.
