French police fired tear gas and pepper spray at some fans waiting to get in to the stadium in Paris on Saturday.

Nadine Dorries said it was important for everyone to learn lessons.

The governing body of European football, Uefa, will review these matters with French police.

The kick-off was delayed by 36 minutes, with European football's governing body initially citing the late arrival of fans.

There were long lines in the hours leading up to the game and a heavy-handed police response to the build-up of fans.

The delay was due to security reasons, and Uefa said that the fans who had purchased fake tickets had stopped the turnstiles from opening.

Real Madrid won the final.

Tom Whitehurst said after arriving at the ground, he had to get his disabled son out of the way.

He said that the treatment of supporters by Uefa and the police was a disgrace.

There were people with tickets who arrived two-and-a-half hours early, who were charged at by riot police with shields, and fans who were indiscriminately pepper-sprayed.

Suzanne said her experience at the game was really traumatic.

She said that the way the event was being policed was wrong and dangerous.

After being searched eight times, her sister arrived at the stadium two hours before the game was to start.

She and her sister decided to leave just before full time, as a group of armed police lined up in front of them. She said that there was tear gas everywhere, your throat was sore, and your eyes hurt.

There were youths at the front of the station mugging people.

Ms Dorries, who runs the government department in charge of UK sport, said that the footage and accounts from the fans and the media were deeply concerning.

Thousands of ticket holders traveled to Paris to support their team in the biggest match of the season.

I urge Uefa to launch a formal investigation into what went wrong and why, in coordination with stadium staff, the French Police, Federation Francaise de Football, and Merseyside Police.
