A passenger was sentenced to 15 months in jail for her behavior on a Southwest Airlines flight.

The passenger who punched a Southwest flight attendant

Southwest Airlines flight from Sacramento to San Diego on May 23, 2021, is the subject of an incident. As the plane began its descent, a flight attendant asked a 29-year-old woman to put on her seatbelt, put her tray table in place, and put on her face mask.

The passenger began recording the flight attendant with her cell phone, pushing her, standing up, and then punching the flight attendant in the face.

The entire assault was captured on a cell phone, and the flight attendant had to have her teeth cleaned. The flight attendant had a cut under her left eye that required stitches. You can see part of the assault for yourself, but be warned that it is graphic.

This is one of the worst behavior we have ever seen on a plane. Southwest delayed the return of alcohol sales on flights because of this incident.

Passenger faces 15 months in jail for assault

The passenger was sentenced this past week by a federal judge in San Diego, over a year after the incident. A passenger pleads guilty to interfering with flight crew members. The woman is as far as sentencing goes.

  • Has been sentenced to 15 months in jail
  • Has to pay nearly $26,000 in restitution
  • Has to pay a fine of $7,500 for assault
  • Won’t be allowed to fly for three years while on supervised release
  • Must participate in an anger management class or counseling

This is the second Southwest passenger to be sentenced to jail. A Southwest passenger was sentenced to 48 days in jail for masturbating multiple times. The passenger had several prior state and local convictions for lewd and lascivious conduct.

Bottom line

Passengers face consequences for their bad behavior. The flight attendant had their teeth knocked out and needed stitches after being attacked by a passenger. The flight attendant was trying to get the passenger to comply with the regulations when all of this happened.

Since the mask mandate ended, we have seen a decrease in unruly passenger behavior.
