Musk is making good on his dream of becoming a restauranteur. An old-school drive in a movie theater, a charging station and a diner is being put together by the richest man in the world.
Musk wanted to open a roller skates and rock diner at a supercharger location so people could charge their cars and grab a meal. This week, it was reported that the city of Los Angeles has approved the plans for a drive-in movie theater, a diner, and a 29-stall supercharger at the intersection of Santa Monica Boulevard and Orange Drive.
Pictures of the design were included and posted online by a netizen, showing a two-story building with bamboo exterior decor and classic long, rounded diner windows.
The design could honor Musk's original old-school plan or be more futuristic. The location should be open 24 hours a day.
Regardless of interior design choices, it is interesting to think that Musk might take the resurgence of drive-in popularity a step further. The first articles about the resurrection of drive-in movie theaters started running in May after the US went on COVID-19. No one needs a reminder of the loneliness and claustrophobia that may have caused that particular trend.
It sounds like it would be kind of romantic to split a shake and snuggling up while the car charges are the weekend date of choice.
