  • Google may be developing a native Android feature to detect coughing or snoring during sleep.
  • This sensing capability will presumably use your phone's mic to collect audio.
  • The feature could land on Pixel phones first before spreading to a broader range of Android devices.

A bunch of useful features that vastly improved its sleep detection capabilities were gained by the second-generation of the Google Nest Hub. The ability to detect snoring and coughing while sleeping is one of the features that may be coming to your phone.

There is a new feature in the latest version of the health studies app. The built-in feature on your phone can be used to listen for snoring and coughing. This process will be done on your phone to protect your privacy.

It is part of a larger study by the Health Sensing team that aims to provide users with meaningful insight into their sleep.

The feature is also available on some of the best watches, including the Fitbit Sense and the Versa 3.

The feature is limited to full-time employees. It is a good bet that it will be introduced to more users in the future.

It is not known when the new sleep monitoring feature will be made available to the public. It is possible that Pixel owners will be the first to get access to it. It is not known which apps will include the feature, but the closest thing to think about is the Bedtime hub in the apps.
