Dee Lubeck traveled hundreds of miles across the state to see Donald Trump speak at a rally in support of the primary challenger of Liz Cheney.

The 71-year-old voter, a lifelong Republican who resides in the small town of Pinedale, said he has no intention of voting for Cheney. Lubeck pointed to his walking cane and said that his vote was for Hageman even if he had to crawl.

I don't want to spit in front of you, but that's what I do when I hear the name Liz, he said with a laugh.

The mention of Cheney's name made many Trump supporters in red state cringe and angry. Attendees, dressed in Trump caps and T-shirts, waited for hours in a line that snaked through the parking lot of the Ford Wyoming Center, excited for Trump's first-ever appearance in the state.

Cheney, a conservative Republican who has served in the US House of Representatives since 2017, stood by Trump throughout his four-year term. In the wake of the January 6 Capitol riot, she broke from Trump and voted to impeach him on a charge of inciting insurrection.

Trump has launched a revenge plot to oust Cheney, and has repeatedly insulted her. In Wyoming on Saturday, he urged voters to choose Hageman over Cheney in the upcoming Republican primary. Some of Trump's supporters who have previously voted for Cheney poured disdain on her.

My opinion of her is treasonistic. James West, a 40-year-old from Lander, said that he did not feel that Cheney did her duty as a lawmaker.

Chris Sorge and Dallas Peasley said that she was disgrace to the Republican Party. "Cheney is a RINO, he's 36." said the woman.

A state that voted for Trump in 2020 has put her at political risk because of Cheney's criticism of the former president. Despite the nation- and state-wide backlash she has suffered because of her stance toward Trump, Cheney has stood firm against the attacks, and officially launched her reelection bid on Thursday.

She should never come back to where she came from. Her husband wore a cap with the words "Piss on Cheney" written on it. Insider was asked not to reveal their last name by the couple.

Many attendees swore they wouldn't vote for Cheney again, but some were still uncertain about how they'd vote in a few months.

Kay West, a 75-year-old from Casper, said the decision is tough because she cast her vote for Cheney before, and Trump endorsed Hageman.

West said that Liz Cheney has done some good, but she is undecided at the moment.

Cheney has stood up for what she believes in. Another undecided voter, who asked Insider not to name them, said that Wyoming is through and through.

According to Janet Shaver, Cheney is not the same person who she voted for in the past.

Shaver, a 75-year-old from Thermopolis, said that Cheney was against Trump. She did something wrong.

Bob Langdon said he would vote for Hageman because of Trump.

Trump doesn't make mistakes. He is the man, and you should vote for him.

Langdon said that Cheney was not for the people.

The race is seen as a test of Trump's power over the Republican Party. His high-profile endorsements for Republican candidates against incumbent officials in Georgia flopped earlier this week. In recent weeks, Trump-backed candidates won their primaries in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
