There is a chance you will see a small shower of light up the sky this long weekend.
According to NASA, Earth will pass through debris trails of a broken comet. About 25 years ago, the comet, 73P/Schwassmann-Wachmann, or SW3 broke into fragments.
If the comet fragments were ejected at twice the normal speeds, they will be able to show us a dazzling display of meteorites. Some fragments may be moving fast enough.

Astronomers are very excited about the possibility of a new shower from May 30-31. Other scientists are a bit more reserved, thinking that we might not see anything that is worth watching.
If the shower does occur, it will be faint.
If you are in North America, you can see clear, dark skies around 1 a.m. NASA reports that you might be able to spot it.
Don't worry, there are plenty of other opportunities to wish upon a star if this meteor shower doesn't live up to your expectations. In a few weeks, there will be a popular meteor show.
