Young girl.

Netflix

If you watched the premiere of the show yesterday, you may have found a few things.

You may not notice good film editing in shows and movies, but you will often notice bad editing, and that seems to be a persistent problem in Obi-Wan, as evidenced by a handful of season that really stood out like sore thumbs. There are more to come.

There is a person who runs.

One of the worst Star Wars scenes I've seen is the one where Princess Leia Organa is running away from bounty hunters in the woods, but I think she's doing a great job. The Vespa chase in The Book of Boba Fett happened a long time ago.

I can see a situation where they used this scene to have Leia use her knowledge of the woods to evade the bounty hunters for a short time, but that is not how this is cut. The bounty hunters are getting blocked by single branches and there are extended takes where they are just chasing a tiny girl in a straight line. It looks goofy on film.

Jedi escape.

In the Inquisitor shakedown of the local bar, they uncover a Jedi that has been hiding out doing good things. They find him, and then all three of them with force powers.

I was confused as to why they weren't able to catch him because of the editing. It was like they didn't even try, and then they started asking for information about him. A very strange sequence from start to finish.

There is an Obi Wan Kenobi.

Disney Plus

The Obi-Wan is moving.

There is a weird moment at the end of the second episode. Obi-Wan is forced to reach for the Force for the first time in a decade in order to ensure that Leia doesn't die in a bunch. Good scene! For a weird editing moment where Obi-Wan is suddenly next to her. I suppose we can assume that he did a force jump that allowed him to survive that level of fall, but that isn't shown, and it looks like he just teleported next to her.

Some people didn't like the Reva roof parkour in this sequence, which I suppose is not really an editing issue, but more of a choreography thing and story decision. I don't think it was meant to make her look like a predator, but it was a little too aggressive.

Is it nitpicking? These moments did stand out in a pair of good episodes. Did they help you as well?
