The Lakers hired Darvin Ham as their new head coach. (1:45)
Sources told Adrian Wojnarowski that the Los Angeles Lakers secured their new head coach with the hire of Darvin Ham.
He was an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks before joining the Lakers. He has worked for Milwaukee head coach Mike Budenholzer since he was with the Atlanta Hawks.
This is not the first time that Ham has worked for Los Angeles. He was an assistant with the Lakers. Los Angeles fell short of expectations last season and missed the playoffs. The team fired Frank Vogel in April.
The Lakers welcomed their new coach to the team with gusto.

Trae Young has a history with Ham from his time in Atlanta.

The Detroit Pistons won a championship under the first-time head coach, who played eight NBA seasons for six teams.
During his time in Detroit, he played four games against James.
Magic Johnson was excited for the new addition.
