According to a source, the Cleveland Browns have agreed to terms on a new four-year deal with tight end David Njoku.
The deal is worth over fifty million dollars, according to a source.
The team had until July 15 to agree to a long-term contract with Njoku, who was placed the franchise tag. According to a memo previously obtained by ESPN, if they had not, Njoku would have played on the franchise tender in 2022.
In five seasons with the Browns, Njoku has totaled 148 catches, including 36 for 475 yards and four touchdown last season.
His best season was in Baker Mayfield's first year as a starter, when he hauled in a career-best 56 catches for 639 yards. Over the past three seasons, Njoku's targets decreased.
The Browns are banking that Njoku will thrive with a new quarterback.
Njoku set career highs last season in yards per target and yards after catch per reception, showcasing the physical skills that made him the 29th overall pick in the draft. In yards per target, Njoku was fourth in the league and tied for first in yards after the catch.
The terms of the extension were reported by the NFL Network.
