You will definitely see a number of warning signs when your phone gets too hot. The most obvious thing is that it will feel hot to the touch, but you may also notice that it is running slower, the display has gone black, or the camera is not taking pictures.

If the heat is too high, you may get a temperature warning splash screen. You cannot make emergency calls until your phone cools off.

If you leave your phone running hot, it can damage its internal components, especially the battery and processor. Here is a way to stop your phone from overheating.

Why does my iPhone get hot?

If it is hot outside and you leave your phone in the car or in the sun, it will get hot. It can happen if your device is running a lot of processor-intensive functions, such as games, streaming HD video, or using gps navigation, and you are somewhere hot or have exposed the device to direct sunlight for a long period of time.

If you have an old or faulty battery, it can discharge a lot of heat that makes your phone hot. When to replace the battery is determined by the health of the battery.

Running too many apps can cause your processor to work harder and generate more heat. Sometimes it is due to outdated apps with bugs that increase the processor workload.

It's a good tip to say that your phone will feel warm when doing normal activities. If you don't get the temperature warning, don't panic. Once you stop doing what caused it to get warm, it should cool down.

How to stop your iPhone overheating

If you notice that your phone is getting too hot, act quickly to avoid damage to its internal components.

1. Close all apps

Lightening the processor's workload can prevent it from draining the battery too quickly. closing all apps should be the first thing you do.

3. Give the phone a few minutes to cool down.

4. When the Apple logo appears, press and hold the Power button.

3. Remove the case and fan the phone

The case can trap heat and prevent it from dissipating quickly if you remove it while your phone is cooling down.

Blow on the phone, fan it, or place it somewhere cool to help get the heat out quicker.

4. Stop charging it immediately

If your phone gets too hot while charging, it's time to take it off. If your phone feels hot to the touch, you should not charge it.

5. Remove it from the heat source

If you left the phone in a hot car, remove it immediately to stop the internal temperature from rising.

6. Keep your iPhone in cool places

Leaving your phone in the sun is a big no-no. Lower the windows, turn on the AC, or park in the shade if it gets hot in the car.

The phone will block the heat from leaving if you put it under the pillow while you sleep. You might want to keep the phone away from other devices that produce heat. Make sure your phone is turned off if it is near them.

7. Update your iPhone

Make sure you always run the latest version of the software, as it comes with performance improvements that can prevent your phone from overheating.

You should update your apps for the same reason, and get any patches for bugs that could cause performance issues that overload the processor.

If you notice that your phone gets too hot when playing 3D games, you might want to limit that task.

You can play games on PC or game consoles if there are other devices in your vicinity that do the same thing.

9. Turn on auto-brightness

It can deplete your battery and cause your phone to get hot if your brightness is too high.

The settings on the iPhone adjust the brightness based on the conditions around you. Here is how to turn it on.
