A federal judge Friday dismissed a lawsuit former President Donald Trump brought against New York Attorney General Letitia James in an attempt to block her investigation into potential financial fraud by the Trump Organization.
The lawsuit was filed in December by Trump, who argued that the investigation into his business practices violated his constitutional rights.
A New York state judge ordered Trump and his two oldest children to testify as part of the probe.
It is not clear if Trump will appeal the ruling from the District Judge.
Attorneys representing the former president and the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Forbes, but Trump has repeatedly called the AG's probe a "witch hunt."
The investigation into Trump and his business empire began after Michael Cohen told Congress that the president and his associates misstated the value of assets. The investigation is looking into whether the Trump Organization inflated the value of assets to get loans and then undervaluing them to avoid taxes. The civil investigation could lead to a lawsuit against Trump, but the district attorneys of Manhattan and Westchester County, New York, are leading criminal probes into similar allegations of financial fraud.
$110,000. The amount of fines that Trump paid last week to James' office to lift a contempt ruling against him for refusing to comply with a subpoena requesting Trump Organization tax records is not known. The documents James requested did not come from Trump.
