The Colorado Rockies uniforms are inspired by the mountains and pine trees of Colorado, the state's license plate and the "Welcome to Colorful Colorado" signs.
The Rockies will have a new look on June 4 against the Braves.
The uniforms feature the Rockies in pine green across the jersey with purple piping on the sleeves and Colorado written across the chest in the same distinctive style as the state's license plates. They have a yellow patch with the city's mile-high altitude, the latitude of Coors Field and black double-diamonds, which is meant to be a tribute to the state's extreme skiing.
We wanted it to be a classic look, a Colorado look and there were other ideas that were more wild or crazy than this, but we thought it would appeal to our younger fans and the younger generations.
The uniforms include pine green pants and a hat with a new circle logo consisting of the Rocky Mountains, the state's CO abbreviation with red and gold, and a representation of the state's sunshine.
The Rockies may use three other concepts down the road.
The state and city are beautiful with the lakes and the snow. There were a lot of concepts and colors that we could have pulled from, but this was the right fit.
The uniforms represent a departure from the purple look the team has featured over the years, but that look will not be going away any time soon.
The purple pinstripes are a classic part of the club's identity. We like where it is at right now and I think the additional uniform will play well within the set of what we have.
