Ted Cruz on Thursday confirmed that he would be speaking at the National Rifle Association's leadership conference while accusing Democratic lawmakers and the media of attempting to "demonize" the organization.

Cruz told Ken that he will speak at the event despite the backlash.

Cruz told CBS that Democrats and the press try to demonize law-abiding gun owners after every mass shooting.

I will tell you what the NRA does. He said that it stood up for the rights of every American.

Cruz was called out by Democrats for his scheduled attendance at the conference just days after the shooting at Robb Elementary School, where 21 people were killed.

Cruz walked out of an interview with a British journalist when he was asked why mass shootings only happen in America.

Sky News journalist Mark Stone asked Cruz why there was American exceptionalism. Stone was patted on the chest by Cruz, who said he was sorry he thought American exceptionalism was awful.

Cruz angrily replied, "Why is it that people from all over the world come to America?", before storming off. Don't be a propagandist.

In the wake of the shooting, Cruz called for armed officers to be stationed at schools.

Cruz is scheduled to speak at the convention. The annual meeting will go ahead as planned, according to the NRA. The group is not allowing firearms on the event premises because of the Secret Service safety restrictions.

Donald Trump is speaking at the conference. Trump said it was time for America to have real solutions and real leadership.

The two Republican lawmakers confirmed this week that they wouldn't be going to Houston for the conference because of non-shooting reasons. Don McLean and Larry Gatlin have dropped out of the bill.
