According to Variety, Sony is making a show based on the video game "Horizon Zero Dawn" and will be giving it to investors. According to Deadline, Sony is working on a movie based on the Gran Turismo series, but hasn't found a distributor yet, and could feature Neill Blomkamp as its director. Variety says that the series will be about racing.
We won't be streaming them for a while because they are reported to be in early development. Sony is committed to expanding the PS brand beyond just hardware and video games, as evidenced by the fact that they are introducing new TV and movie projects.
Sony’s not sticking with a single streaming company
Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, said that there are 10 other projects in the works. It is working on:
Some of the projects have some heavy hitters attached. Pedro Pascal will be playing the role ofJoel in Ghost of Tsushima, as well as playing the roles of Solid Snake and Ellie, which will be directed by one of the people behind the John Wick movies. Hollywood's golden boy, Tom Holland, starred in the movie. It isn't dipping its toe in the cinematic waters, but it is diving in headfirst.
Sony is continuing its strategy of working with different streaming companies, it seems like no matter what you subscribe to, the company wants to make sure you will be able to watch at least something starting its video game characters. Highly competitive streaming wars are good for the company according to Sony.
This isn't the only move the company is making to expand the brand beyond just people who buy consoles. The company wants to significantly expand its games on PC and mobile.
There is a story that the Gran Turismo project is a movie instead of a TV show.
