There have been 27 school shooting this year. Both incidents bear the unfortunate distinction of joining the ranks of the deadliest mass shootings in US history. There have been at least 214 mass shootings in the US so far this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive. The organization defines a mass shooting as a single incident in which at least four people are shot, not including the shooter.
