Ray Liotta

The Goodfellas actor, who winks at his character in the film, has died. He died in his sleep in the Dominican Republic while working on John Barr's film Dangerous Waters. It doesn't look like any other information about his cause of death is currently available. Liotta died at 67.

Liotta was adopted from an orphanage when he was a year old, with his adoptive parents having political ambitions of their own. After graduating from the University of Miami in the 70s, he moved to New York where he was cast in the soap opera Another World.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in Something Wild. A couple of years later, Liotta played Joe Jackson in Field of Dreams, a baseball tearjerker.

It might have been the thing everyone remembers if Ray Liotta hadn't played Henry Hill in Goodfellas a year later. Robert De Niro, Paul Sorvino, and Joe Pesci won Oscars for their roles in the film.

Nothing else in Liotta's career reached the heights of Goodfellas. He popped up in a lot of films. His voice acting role in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was a nod to his legacy, but nothing of the many self-awareness cameos or little nod to his legacy.
