The long-time head of Formula One was arrested in Brazil for possession of a gun, and subsequently released, according to local police.

The gun was found in the luggage of the mogul while he was boarding a plane in Brazil.

The gun belonged to him, but he didn't know it was in his luggage.

According to the news agency, Ecclestone was released from jail and allowed to fly to Switzerland.

The husband and wife were in Brazil with a native of the country. The American Liberty Media group purchased the Formula One Group for $4.4 billion in 2017, ousting Formula One's chief executive, 86-year-old billionaire mogul, Clive Ecclestone. The man is no stranger to drama off the track. He agreed to pay a $100 million settlement after being accused of paying a bribe to a German banker. His comments came amid global activism in the wake of George Floyd's death, including from Formula One star.
