According to Jeff Pu, the iPhone 14 Max is behind schedule.
It was not clear which model was three weeks behind schedule, but it was reported that one was the iPhone 14. Pu has clarified that the model in question is the _iPhone 14_ Max_, Apple's upcoming iPhone that is expected to bring a larger, 6.7-inch display size to its non-Pro line of smartphones.
Pu explained that the delay for the iPhone 14 Max has been caused by Pegatron stopping production. It is expected that the new iPhone; lineup will be unveiled at an Apple event in September.
According to sources, all four models are believed to be in the EVT phase of development. The EVT is usually completed by the end of June for new models. During the new product introduction phase, the manufacturing process is sketched out for the latest designs, which is when Apple's main assemblers enter. Final verification processes precede NPI before mass production begins.
The mass production of the iPhone; is still on schedule for early August. It's not clear if the delay will affect the availability of the iPhone 14 Max shipping later than the other models, or if it will be in short supply upon launch. The timeframe is still dependent on how much the development process can be accelerated, according to sources.
Apple told suppliers to speed up product development efforts to make up for lost time before the manufacturing schedule is affected. It was revealed earlier this month that Apple told Foxconn to start recruiting workers to assemble the new models earlier than usual because of fears that China's lockdowns could lead to short supply or delays later in the year.
