The Yankees outfielder is on the injured list for the fourth straight season.

The Yankees made a flurry of roster moves less than an hour before their 2-0 victory over Baltimore in the series finale as they placed outfielder Giancarlo Stanton on the 10-day disabled list.

The injury to the star's right lower leg was not a strained calf, as the team had said, but an ankle injury.

Before the game, Boone said that he was feeling good.

The New York Yankees placed struggling relief pitcher Jonathan loaisiga on the injured list retroactive to May 23, with right shoulder inflammation, which is the latest blow to a decimated relief corps.

Similar to what he dealt with last year. Probably not as severe. We need to be smart here and take a couple weeks and hopefully that is all it is. We are going to treat him with care.

Joey Gallo was back from the injured list and started at designated hitter. Third baseman Josh Donaldson remained on the COVID-19 list, and All-Star infielder DJ LeMahieu was out of the lineup for the second night in a row because of wrist pain.

The team hopes to have LeMahieu back in a day or two after he got a cortisone shot.

Donaldson was feeling better after his illness broke overnight, and he thought he was going to get an IV. The manager wasn't sure if Donaldson would join the Yankees for the four-game set in Florida or if he would stay with the club during the series.

The outfielder left Tuesday night's win over the Orioles in the seventh and had an exam on Wednesday. The Yankees began the night with the best record in the majors at 30-13.

Even in the best of seasons, you have to be able to weather the storm and have other guys step up in different situations. That is part of the grind of the season. We are prepared to handle that. We are looking forward to handling that. The season is not over for anyone.

Last year, he played in more games than in the previous year and hit 35 homers and 97 runs. He was out from May 17-28 with a left quadriceps strain.

Before the season began, the New York Yankees acquired the NL Most Valuable Player from Miami, and he hit.266 with 38 homers and 100 RBIs in his first season in pinstripes.

He was out from April 1 to June 18 with a left biceps strain, then from June 26 to September 19 with a right knee injury. He was out from August 9 to September 15 with a strained left hamstring.

In the last three seasons, he has been on the injured list. He has a.270 career batting average with 358 homers and 928 runs.

Last year's top setup man is 1-2 with a 7.02 earned run average in 18 appearances. He has walked 10 and given up 16 hits.

It has been a few outings that have hurt him and when you do that early in the year as a relief pitcher, it shows up that way.

During the second game of Sunday's doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox, the pitcher was tagged with the loss in his most recent outing. After his last appearance, he was a little sore, so we slowed him down a bit and just wanted to make sure that he was sound.

In 57 games last season, he was 9-4 with five saves and a career-best 2.17 ERA. In September, the right-handed pitcher missed 22 games and 3 1/2 weeks with a shoulder strain.

His injury came one day after the Yankees put All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman on the 15-day disabled list with left Achilles tendinitis, and just a few days after setup man Chad Green went down with a season-ending elbow injury that will require Tommy John surgery.

The veteran lefty is expected to miss the entire season after having Tommy John surgery.

It is also a great opportunity for people to step up and take on roles.

New York also called up left-handed pitcher JP Sears and right-handed pitcher David McKay.
