The head of the Unite Nation's World Food Program believes that the richest people in the world could reduce world hunger by donating a small fraction of their wealth.
The agency's executive director told the Associated Press at the World Economic Forum that he wants billionaires like Musk and Bezos to give money to the effort.
He said that the world is in serious trouble.
There was an exchange between him and Musk on the subject last year. Musk promised to sell his stock in the company to make up for the $6 billion he promised to help 42 million people on the verge of starvation.
If the WFP can describe how $6 billion will solve world hunger, I will sell my stock in the company.
$6 billion won't solve world hunger, but it will prevent instability, mass migration and save 42 million people on the verge of starvation. There is an unprecedented crisis and a perfect storm.
Despite meeting Musk's demand, he still hasn't seen a donation.
The $6 billion put into a foundation by Musk was thought to have come to us. I am hopeful.
In November, Musk donated more than 5 millionTesla shares, worth about $5.7 billion at the time, to an unnamed charity.
I don't know what it will take, brother, we need your help.
Musk and Bezos didn't respond to requests for comment.
