According to Variety, the Bad Robot banner will be used to serve as the executive producer on a live-action version of the 1960s TV show. The series has been adapted for live action before, with the previous version being a cult-beloved 2008 film directed by Lana and Lilly Wachowski. If you remember that movie, you sing its praises as often as you can, and if you haven't seen it, here's a list of reasons why it's awesome.

Ron Fitzgerald and Hiram Martinez will serve as co-showrunners and writers for the new Apple show. Fitzgerald is behind the recent Perry Mason reboot for HBO Max, along with previous experience on Westworld and Friday Night Lights, as well as previous work on Snowfall.

Variety says that a full series order has already been given for the Speed Racer remake, which has been in the works for a number of years. The question now is if the show will get further along in production or if it will linger in development hell even further. With the various shows and films that have his name attached not having much to show, it may be some time before we get any substantial news on this new take on Speed. In the meantime, there is always the movie.
