Bill Pulte, who has more than 3 million followers on his account, urged his followers to donate money on Wednesday to offset the cost of the funeral of fourth grade teacher, who was killed while protecting her students during the Texas school shooting massacre.

There were 21 people killed in a shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde.

The school, which teaches only second through fourth graders, still has a banner on its website that says "Teacher Appreciation Week."

The mass shooting occurred 48 hours before the students would have celebrated their last day of school.

Irma Garcia, a 4th grade teacher at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, will shot and killed Tuesday. The 18-year-old suspect is accused of killing two teachers and 19 children.

My aunt sacrificed herself protecting the kids in her classroom, I beg of you to keep my nephew, he was born and raised in Uvalde.

The Michigan school districts are taking extra precautions.

He asked the Free Press to let people know that the family was grateful for the support.

A photo of his aunt and his son was sent to him. It is hard for family members to believe that the son of the man who killed his mother was trained for combat and that she died in a hail of gunfire.

He said that stuff like this should not be happening in schools. It's not ok.

Pulte told the Free Press Wednesday that he noticed about $12,000 had been raised on the site within the first 10 hours, and that family reached out to reach their $30,000 goal. Donations shot past $50,000 from nearly 2,000 donors after Pulte's statement.

The account has been verified by the site, according to the Free Press.

Pulte said he talked with the family of the man who died. He is known for his charity work that helps people in trouble.

'My kid's teachers'

Pulte, a philanthropist with deep ties to Detroit and a summer home in the Cheboygan area, said it was devastating.

He said that he thought of some of his child's teachers when he looked at the lady's photo. Her family gets the money. People want to take care of others.

Pulte uses the social media platform to spotlight bigger causes. He wouldn't say how much he donated. His gifts have ranged from $10 to $50,000 in the past.

He said that the majority of gifts come from their teammates.
