At least two witnesses told the House January 6 committee that Trump staffers were upset about Mike Pence being evacuated from the Capitol on January 6, 2021, and that Trump seemed to sympathize with the rioters.

According to the Times, one of the staffers who told the committee about the comments was his former aide, Cassidy Hutchinson.

It is not clear what tone Trump used when he made the comments.

A January 6 committee spokesman and a Trump spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment from Forbes.

On January 6th, after refusing calls from Trump to somehow block the certification of President Joe Biden's win in the 2020 election, the relationship between the two collapsed. Many of the rioters were motivated to find the vice president after Trump said he didn't have the courage to protect the country.

According to the Times, the committee has heard testimony that Meadows burned documents in a fireplace in his office.

What To Watch For

In June, the committee is expected to hold eight public hearings.

The New York Times reported that Trump had responded to the Chants about hanging the vice president.

There is no right to overturn the election, and Trump is wrong to claim that he did.
