A moment of silence is a small empty gesture.

During times like this, thoughts and prayers are the worst things you can offer. The Bible says that faith without works is dead, which means that all those prayers are useless. And those thoughts? It doesn't mean we will get back to the world we were 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217 800-273-3217

On Tuesday, social media was full of thoughts and prayers from the usual suspects, but who always refuse to stop the posts. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was angry.

When are we going to do something?

Kerr has used his platform to speak about one of the country's ills. He is always front-and-center and fearless with his words when something easily preventable happens in a way that leaves so many of us wondering how we can keep getting here.

Things tend to change when white men get angry, if you haven't been paying attention the last few years. There are a few monumental moments that have taken place due to white men being really pissed off.

  • The Boston Tea Party
  • The Civil War
  • Charlottesville
  • January 6th

The angry white man is an essential part of America's history because they are the only ones allowed to be publicly passionate about things. When black men and women get angry, we try to not be stereotyped. People from other minority groups are usually told to be quiet or go back to where they came from if they try to speak truth to power.

That was the only time in Florida.

Remember The Bubble? The Milwaukee Bucks decided to wait a day for their playoff game against the Magic because Jacob was shot in the back seven times by cops.

August 26, 2020 was the day. The rest of the sports world took a break after basketball was put on hold. It was proof that the pursuit of a championship isn't as important as it may seem, given that athletes are playing a kid's game.

We are expected to play at a high level, give maximum effort and hold each other accountable when we represent Milwaukee and Wisconsin on the court. We hold ourselves to that standard, and in this moment, we are demanding the same from our lawmakers and law enforcement.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver publicly supported the move in a letter in which he supported NBA and WNBA players and their commitment to shining a light on important issues of social justice.

Why didn't it happen on Tuesday night when it was cool in 2020?

That is what is frustrating about this. Game 4 of the Western Conference finals should have been postponed because the league is supposedly going to take stands against social issues.

This is not a time in which we should be arguing over what shooting was worse in the Olympics, but a time in which we should be realizing that both instances were caused by gun violence. The Second Amendment needs to be viewed as a relic instead of a battle cry for people and police departments that want to stock up on unnecessary weaponry.

Remember that feeling when you enter a voting booth, for everyone that woke up angry this morning. If you don't, you'll be forced to follow a basketball game that should have been delayed.
