I can't talk about that at this point. The decision to bring in Inquisitors into Star Wars live-action and make sure they fit into the larger canon was similar to the decision to bring Christensen back in the first place. The highly anticipated show was the subject of a video chat last week. We talked about Obi-Wan's motives on the Light Side of the Force and the Dark Side. For example, why it was important to have a reprise of his role as Darth Vader when a large part of the portrayal is just a stunt person in a suit. It felt right to bring back Hayden for Revenge of the Sith because we have so much of it connected to the prequels. They have some issues. When Obi-Wan saw his former student, he became Darth Vader. Obi-Wan left his friend for dead. He didn't die. Vader was given a new suit by Emperor Palpatine, the one fans first saw in 1977. Next-Level Sound can be experienced. Theater-like sound surrounds you with spatial audio with dynamic head tracking.
The original trilogy and the animated shows also have Obi-Wan's roots in them. Vader sent a group of Jedi hunters to find his former master. Vader's hench people will be in live-action for the first time, afterquisitors were introduced on Star Wars Rebels.
We are trying to tell the story of a Jedi who is hiding. They are Jedi hunters. It was natural to put those two things together. It felt like we really needed to make sure that we also had some stuff that was new and unknown, so we were very excited about some new characters like Reva.
One of the most challenging aspects of the show is that we are with some of the most recognizable characters in the Star Wars canon. She said that there was a lot of support and that they needed to respect it. One of the co-production designers is Doug Chiang, who was a designer on the prequels. He is a guiding hand on design. The Lucasfilm resources, as well as the people there to support them, are included. We were very much connected to make sure that we respected everything.
She also enjoyed the freedom to make her own unique vision, which is what she did with Obi-Wan Kenobi.
It was interesting to do this after The Mandalorian because it was very different. I really liked the idea of being able to do the whole thing and actually take it from beginning to end and try to articulate a vision over a limited series.
She loved having an actor with a face. It was like, "Oh, my God, there's eyes." And, in Star Wars fashion, Chow teases that we'll get to see more eyes than just the ones.
On Friday, Obi-Wan will be on Disney+.
