A two-stage Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to lift off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida today. There is a mission called Transporter 5. If everything goes according to plan, the first stage of the Falcon 9 will return to Earth about nine minutes after launch.

You can watch the action live at Space.com, or directly from the company (opens in new tab). The liftoff is about 15 minutes away.

There are 8 ways that SpaceX has changed spaceflight.

Transporter 5 is a rideshare mission that will loft a variety of small satellites for different customers. We should learn more about these payloads soon.

Transporter 5 will be the fifth dedicated small-satellite mission by the company. Transporter 1 launched a record number of satellites in January of 2021.

Transporter 5 will be the 22nd launch of the rocket in the year 2022. The eighth flight of the first stage of the Falcon 9 will be marked by the mission.

The key breakthrough that humanity will need to colonize Mars and perform other ambitious exploration feats will be achieved through extensive reuse. Several different Falcon 9 first stages have launched on different missions.
