All Nippon Airways (ANA) revealed a new business class product in the summer of 2019. I wanted to take a look at ANA's progress with installing the cabins.
I'm hoping that Japan opens sooner rather than later, as it continues to remain closed to most visitors. Hopefully you can enjoy ANA's new cabins when you travel.
New first class and business class products from All Nippon Airways are truly spectacular. ANA has always had great service, and now the airline has a hard product to match.
The new first class is amazing. The hard product doesn't look amazing, but it is a huge improvement over the old product. There are eight very comfortable suites in first class. This is the third best first class in the world, thanks to ANA's top notch soft product.
The room is the new business class from All Nippon Airways. The seats have a lot of personal space. I think this is one of the best business class products in the world, along with Qsuites.
We have seen some variation in the new cabins offered by All Nippon Airways. The Pandemic has changed airline strategy and aircraft scheduling as well.
Let me show you the basics of ANA's new cabins, how to tell if your flight features the new cabins, and which routes currently feature the new cabins.
All Nippon Airways has a fleet of Boeing snoozingERs. The new cabins are found in nine of the 15 jets, meaning that 60 percent of ANA's jets have the new first class. Six of these planes have been delivered to the airline since the beginning of the year, with new cabins, and three of them have been changed with the new cabins.
The new cabins on the following nine Boeing 777-300ERs allow you to track registration codes.
If you look at the seat map, you can tell if your flight is going to feature new cabins. The easiest way to tell is to look at the seat map.
If you are on ANA's website, you will see a display of the new cabins for first class and business class.
Again, it's only a small group of Boeing 777-300ERs that have these cabins. You won't find these cabins on other aircraft.
Between Japan's borders being closed to most foreigners and Russian airspace being closed, ANA's schedule is all over the place.
There is a lot of inconsistency at the moment, though the routes that are generally scheduled to be operated by the new 777-300ERs through the summer 2022 schedule are here.
New York, London, and Frankfurt are the three destinations most prioritized for these cabins, as these were the first routes to get them. San Francisco and Los Angeles are the next priority routes after that. ANA is planning on flying 787-9s on some of these routes over the coming months, but they won't have cabins.
The airline is making good progress with the introduction of the new business class. The chances of getting the new cabins on the ANA's 777-300ERs are good.
The priority seems to be to offer these cabins to New York, then London, then San Francisco, and then Los Angeles. There are some aircraft swaps in the coming months, but I expect that general prioritization to apply going forward.
What was your experience with ANA's new planes?
