Sen. Ted Cruz, professional ghoul, in the U.S. Capitol on May 4, 2022.

Nineteen children and two adults were killed in a school shooting in Uvalde, Texas. Republican politicians expressed their sympathies in the wake of the tragedy. You will notice something odd if you look closely. Many of the messages were the same, as if they were copying and pasting from the last mass shooting.

There seems to be a formula for how right-wing politicians respond to mass shootings on social media. We are lifting them up in prayer and thanking the first responders on the scene.

That is it. There is no promise that laws will be passed to stop mass shootings in the U.S., and no acknowledgement that children in other countries don't have to participate in active shooter drills. The only thing politicians can do is pray and thank God.

Take a look at some of the statements from yesterday, with an emphasis in the text from Gizmodo to show how similar they really are.

McConnell is from Kentucky.

For children and innocent adults, including the school teacher, to be taken from this world in such a depraved, violent way, it is incomprehensible. Cruz's statement was the same one he made after another school shooting in Texas.

The list goes on and on. They all use the same formula.

It wasn't just Republicans who used the same platitudes on Tuesday. The language used by Sen. Sinema was similar to the language used by the Republicans.

We are horrified and heartbroken by the senseless tragedy unfolding at Robb Elementary School in Texas and grateful to the first responders for acting swiftly. No families should ever have to fear violence in their children’s schools.

Maybe all of these politicians could do something about this tragedy. Or maybe they can keep their mobile phones ready to paste because this horror will happen again very soon.
