The Associated Press projected Tuesday that Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be the Republican nominee in the Arkansas governor's race.
The President and Press Secretary were at the White House.
The race was called by the AP at 9:30 pm. There was an estimated 28% of the vote counted.
Former radio host Doc Washburn was second with 18.2% of the vote.
Chris Jones will be the Democratic nominee for governor and the Republicans are expected to hold onto the mansion.
Huckabee's daughter served as the White House press secretary for less than a year, but hosted fewer news conferences than any previous press secretary. She admitted to making false claims to the press about the FBI's opposition to James Comey, who was fired as the bureau's director. Trump hosted two fundraisers for her at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida, which benefited her campaign. Mar-a-Lago received tens of thousands of dollars for hosting and Catering the events, as a result of these fundraisers.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders is taking another $48,000 to Donald Trump.
