Tim Anderson says there was no inside joke between him and Josh Donaldson regarding Donaldson calling him "Jackie" over the weekend.
Anderson, speaking publicly for the first time since Major League Baseball punished Donaldson with a one-game suspension, said the two haven't had a relationship since the first time he called him.
Anderson said that he told him we never have to talk again. I already told him what he was doing.
Anderson claims that while Donaldson was playing for the Minnesota Twins, the two had no contact until Donaldson slid into third base in a game against the Chicago Cubs. Donaldson and Anderson had words that night and again this past weekend in New York, and Donaldson called Anderson again.
Donaldson said that the comment was in reference to a Sports Illustrated interview in which Anderson talked about how he was getting to a point where he needed to.
The league felt Donaldson's comment was disrespectful and in poor judgment and suspended him.
Anderson was asked if the one-game suspension and fine was appropriate.
Anderson said that he was cool with whatever happened, because it was out of his control.
Rick Hahn was vague about his opinion on the punishment, but he was happy with the way the team responded to the incident, both on and off the field. The White Sox swept the Yankees in a day and night game.
The support that was shown both on the field and in the locker room was remarkable.
Anderson hit a three-run home run in the second game. Some Yankees fans had been chanting during his at-bats.
He said it was great to shut them up.
Anderson said he hasn't heard from either Donaldson or the Yankees.
He said he was not looking for a friendship or relationship.
Anderson was asked if he thought Donaldson received a message from the league after being punished.
Anderson said he hoped so.
