A mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas has left at least three people dead. The 18-year-old from the small city is dead.
He shot and killed 14 students and a teacher at the Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.
The suspect entered the school. It is believed that law enforcement officers who responded to the scene killed the man with a handgun and rifle.
A 10-year-old girl and a 66-year-old woman are in critical condition at University Health hospital in San Antonio, which is 85 miles east of Uvalde. The Uvalde Memorial Hospital received 13 children for treatment and two of them died.
Latino students make up a majority of Robb Elementary School's 500 students. The last day of school for the district was Thursday.
Abbott said in a statement that Texans across the state were grieving for the victims of the crime and that state officials would make sure the community had what it needed.
