The Cast Had So Much Fun Making ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ They Might Do A Season 2

Disney's plans for its shows have always been odd. They are not traditional, as in you would assume any successful show is going to get a season 2, as it really depends on the direction of the universe at hand. Some shows transition into movies, others get second seasons, and some are left in limbo indefinitely.

The upcoming Star Wars shows may be the same. The Book of Boba Fett seems unlikely to return, even though The Mandalorian seems like it will be on for a while. The one-off miniseries Obi-Wan Kenobi may grow beyond its initial scope.

Is there one factor that is affecting that decision? The cast really enjoyed making it and may want to do more. Kathleen Kennedy is speaking to the magazine.

Kennedy said that everybody came together and had a great time. It was an incredible time for Hayden. Everyone involved would love to see this not end. We have to ask ourselves why we would do it. If we decided to do more with the Obi-Wan character, we would have to answer the question why.

And that was enough for Ewan to say he would like to keep going.

This was supposed to be a bridge between Obi-Wan and A New Hope, so it could be hard to make this a reality from a story perspective. There are other complicating factors, like the fact that Obi-Wan re-killed Darth Maul in a storyline that should technically be canon. A lot of the other upcoming Star Wars series do not have the same limits as Obi-Wan, because Ahsoka is taking place in a longer gap between episodes 6 and 7.

We won't really know whether or not this is a good idea until we see the entire show for ourselves, which will be six weeks from Friday, given the season length and its lack of bingeability. When it all begins, there will be more to come.
