Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki

Poland's prime minister said at the World Economic Forum that Putin is a blackmail tool for the rest of the world.

It was similar to what Stalin did in 1933, according to the man.

He warned that only Putin would be happy with a trade war between the UK and EU.

Global food prices have gone up due to the inability of Ukraine to export its grain.

famines in the countries which depend on its exports have been raised.

This was part of Mr Putin's strategy to create ripples in Northern Africa and huge migration waves.

He said he expected an EU oil embargo on Russia within days or weeks, with some carve outs for the Czechs, Slovakia, Hungary and Austria.

He called for the shut down of the gas line from Russia to Germany.

Russia is under real pressure from existing sanctions, but this will have an impact over the long term.

He suggested the Russian president was relying on rising energy and food prices draining support in the West for Ukraine, and politicians needed to explain and mitigate the impact on prices.

He said that they have to explain the consequences of the war to the public.

The possibility of a trade war between the UK and the EU would be a lose-lose situation according to Mr Morawiecki.

He said that only Putin and our enemies would be happy with the disagreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union.

He was trying to calm down the situation between France and the United Kingdom as much as possible by saying there was room for compromise between London and Brussels.

If the UK breaks the deal, it should be a wake up call for those who want to disagree, the Polish PM said.

We are strong. We are very weak.

The Polish PM had some criticism for his EU colleagues.

He pointed out that some Western European leaders wanted to have cheap, natural resources and peace. They got very expensive raw materials and war.

They should be aware that Putin is trying to divide us and make us impatient, and that he is also trying to make us tired with everything.

We have to be prepared for a long war, like the Second World War, and we have to make public opinion knowledgeable about what is going on in Ukraine.
