Jesse Lingard
Jesse Lingard played for West Ham on loan from Manchester United during the 2020-21 season

Jesse Lingard is a free agent next month.

After a successful loan spell with the Hammers last season, David Moyes has a long-standing interest in the England attackingMidfielder.

Since then, he has tried to sign Lingard on a permanent basis.

Lingard says he feels let down by his treatment during the past year and has decided to leave the club.

There was a lot of interest from Lingard clubs during the past two transfer windows.

Lingard was told he would get an opportunity to press his first-team claims after Manchester United refused to let him join a rival for a European place.

Lingard was upset that he wasn't introduced from the bench in the win against Brentford, which would have been his last game for the club.

He did not play in any of the last four games of the season.

Lingard's brother posted a message on social media complaining that after 20 years of blood, sweat and tears, four domestic trophies and three cup final goals, there was not even a farewell for the England player.

While there are other clubs interested, David Moyes hopes his association with West Ham will give them an advantage.

Lingard scored nine goals and registered five assists in 16 appearances for the Hammers while on loan and was named the April League Player of the month.

A run of five points from their last seven games cost them a second successive top-six finish, and that was one of the reasons why David Moyes vowed to strengthen his squad.

StuartPearce will not be part of the backroom staff for the play-offs after he left the club.
