Russian President Vladimir Putin joked on Monday that he would have a serious talk with the West about the current economic troubles.
Putin told Alexander Lukashenko that Russia's economy had performed well in the face of Western sanctions.
After plunging to an all-time low of 150 to the dollar in March, the Russian ruble has rallied over the last month and reached 57.5 against the US dollar on Monday.
Lukashenko told Putin that the West had given him a push to develop his own economy.
