It's great to see.

Jones, the first-round draft pick from Alabama who started every game in his first season in the league, told reporters that he has been working on a plan.

Jones said after Monday's practice that he just cleaned up his diet.

I need to be able to take hits while maintaining my weight. Every player has a fine balance. I trimmed down on the body fat and will get a chance to bulk up before the season starts to be able to absorb hits.

Jones' improved physical makeup isn't the only notable change with the New England offense, as long-time assistant Josh McDaniels has left to become the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The first time reporters were allowed to watch the practice was on Monday, and it was notable that head coach Bill Belichick was involved with the offense. Jones relayed information to his teammates after the final 11-on-11 drill when he was read off a card by Belichick.

Former New York Giants head coach Joe Judge is working with the quarterbacks, while former Detroit Lions head coach MattPatricia is with the offensive line. Both coaches were in charge of the offense Monday.

At this point, no one has been named a play caller or a coordinators.

It is not my decision to make and we have plenty of time for that. Jones said that right now, it was about the guys getting on the same page.

“I just cleaned up my diet,” a slimmed-down Mac Jones said of his offseason conditioning work. "I’ve learned more this offseason than I probably ever have about nutrition, sleep, wellness, all that stuff.” Eric Canha/USA TODAY Sports

Jones said that he was a great defensive mind, but he also had great offensive knowledge.

The presence of the coach with the offense was also noted by the player.

He said that he has been more present, helping them out. He is a defensive guy, so it is almost just embracing and taking advantage of the time we are going to get with him.

Jones was often seen on the sideline with the quarterbacks coach, who was also the team's quarterbacks coach. They formed a connection.

Jones said he was excited to open up the next chapter with Judge, and he was happy for McDaniels to land a head-coaching job.

He said that he has done a great job as a coach.

He has knowledge that is beneficial to me as a quarterback, and I am going to learn from him. The goal is to teach each other and take what he knows and combine them into a great team.

Jones is excited about the new additions to the core of last year&s team, which includes Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith.

Jones said he was happy with the group and that DeVante had done a great job. We have to push each other and compete in order to be a good group.
