Conviasa is launching a new route between Venezuela and Iran. There will be a flight between Tehran and Venezuela every two weeks. The flight will start on June 18, 2022. Tehran to Venezuela departing at 4:00PM and arriving at 2PM on Saturdays. Tehran to Venezuela departing 6:30AM and arriving 10:30AM.Basics of Conviasa’s Caracas to Tehran route
The 7,315-mile flight is blocked in each direction for 13 hours and 30 minutes. Air China and Cathay Pacific used to fly in the same A340-300 that Conviasa has.
There are eight first class seats, 28 business class seats, and 219 economy class seats on the plane. I haven't seen any interior pictures of the plane in a while, but that's what the configuration used to be. The A340-300 has a very good cargo capacity.
You can book this flight on Conviasa's website. The price difference between economy class and business class is very small. The economy starts at 1,033, while the business class starts at 1,290 for a one-way ticket. Business class on a 13+ hour flight costs an extra 260 dollars. Cargo is probably the main motivator here, with passengers chipping in gas money.
This is not the first route we have seen from Venezuela in recent years.
In the last few months, Conviasa has been operating flights to Tehran. The tag-on to its existing Moscow service means the plane flies from Tehran to Moscow to Venezuela.
Maybe a flight from Venezuela to North Korea would be next?
The airline is planning on serving the route every two weeks. I don't know how much I would love to experience this flight, but I won't be onboard anytime soon.
I would be interested to know what the demand is in this market, but how will that be broken down between cargo and passengers?
What do you think about Conviasa's new route?
