Pat Gelsinger, the Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corp., said he has mixed feelings about the possible acquisition of VMWare Inc.

Gelsinger said in an interview that he was mixed on the current thinking.

According to a report on Sunday, chipmaker Broadcom is in talks to acquire cloud software provider VMware, which Gelsinger led as CEO before returning to Intel. He said that he was a bit startled by it.

Further industry consolidation is likely with sinking tech valuations. He hopes that Intel will complete the IPO of Mobileye this year. The company was acquired by Intel.

Gelsinger doesn't see a balance between demand and supply until at least 2024.
