The new season will pick up with the characters of Indiana scattered around the world, each dealing with their own set of problems. For Eleven, moving to California with the Byers feels like the first attempt at normal she will ever have. The third season had viewers believing that Hopper was dead, but he is alive and well in a Russian prison. The rest of the kids are getting ready for spring break and the chance to make new friends in high school. Eventually, all groups will face a new monster in the form of the baddie Vecna, plus other monsters from the various portals to the Upside Down.
The Duffer Brothers sci-fi series is getting ready to be a different kind of series from its original three seasons, and the trailer makes it feel like that is the case. Maybe it's because the cast is older now, or maybe it's how they are prepared to deal with the supernatural nonsense coming for them. It definitely feels like we are in the middle of a long running show. Time to see if it sticks the landing.
