We have not had access to the Google Assistant until now, but we are approaching the one-year anniversary of the release of theGalaxy Watch 4. There was some hope that an announcement would be made during the keynote. We got some confirmation, but it was not the news that the owners of the watch were hoping for.
You will soon be able to download the Google Assistant to the Watch 4 and theGalaxy Watch 4. You can find a new app in the Play Store that can be downloaded on your watch or phone.
The following statement was provided by the company.
With the Wear OS update that opens access to the Play store, owners of the watch will be able to download the Assistant, which will enable faster and more natural voice interactions. The update will give users access to a number of services.

The app tray of the watch can be used to run the Google Assistant. Users can assign the home button to run it with a press and hold. It can be used on the watch even if you don't have a phone.
This is even better because you don't have to install the Assistant app on your phone in order to use it. The Wear OS version can be downloaded from the Play Store, and you will get the same features as you would expect.
We are still diving into this, but you are now able to use your voice to invoke the Assistant. You can assign it to the Home button on your watch by pressing and holding down the button. It seems as though this is what we wanted, as Assistant can be a separate entity on your watch.
After the announcement of Wear OS 3 at Google I/O, the owners of theGalaxy Watch 4 were surprised to learn that the Assistant wasn't available. There was hope for an earlier launch last month after a new software update for the Verizon version. Unfortunately, it seems that the changelog was redacted after the inclusion of Assistant.
