The Google Assistant has been put on the watch. You should receive a Wear OS update with the ability to enable it today. The update applies to Watch 4 Classic users.
The latest OS opens access to Google Play giving users access to some of the most popular apps. The apps mentioned in the post were already available. The update to YouTube Music made it more usable on Wear OS devices.
I haven't had a chance to try out the Wear OS flavor yet, but the hand-free capabilities will make it sound promising. You can call on it to control smart home devices, get information about your day, or start tracking a run in an app, according to the support page. I'll be curious to see if I can set a default app to track my hikes, since I've converted over to Samsung Health. Until now, you had to rely on a third-party app to turn on and off the lights in your home.
More hands-free correspondence will be possible with the help of the Google Assistant. This was possible in the previous iteration of Wear OS. The keyboard had to be brought up with a tap around the screen, then a tap on the microphone button. You'll be able to rattle off a message entirely through the Messages app on your phone, the same way you would on any other device.
As far as Bixby is concerned, it will live on the watch as well as the assistant. If you have a smart home that is connected to the SmartThings or you have a phone that is in the same phone family, you might prefer Bixby over Google.

Theater-like sound surrounds you with spatial audio with dynamic head tracking.
The update is a little earlier than we anticipated, depending on where you are sitting. The initial announcement that the Google Assistant would arrive in the summer was merely an update to that.
This latest Wear OS update finally brings a feature to all users of the watch. There is still a lot of things to do in the Android land. The inclusion of the Google Assistant on the watches helps bridge the gap.
