In an interview with a San Antonio TV station, Jimbo Fisher said that only one of the 11 early enrollees in the No. 1 recruiting class has an NIL deal.
Fisher was angry when Alabama coach Nick Saban spoke to an Alabama business group and said that A&M bought every player on their team. We did not buy one player.
The coach called a news conference on Thursday morning and said that he and his team never bought anyone and that some people think they are God.
On Sunday night, KSAT aired an interview with Fisher that it recorded on Friday when the coach visited the city to speak to an alumni club.
Fisher said in the interview that he just researched. A guy has a deal. All the stories you are hearing are complete lies.
He said that he had been on the defense since signing day, when he questioned social media posts that claimed the A's had a $30 million fund for NIL deals.
Fisher told reporter Greg Simmons that it was written on social media. And you believed it.
Simmons was questioned by Fisher.
Fisher asked if you did your research. No, so you assumed. This world goes that way now. You believe it when someone says it on social media. Where does that put you as a reporter?
Nobody wants the truth. You want a story and a hit.
Fisher, like he said on Thursday, didn't plan to talk to Saban.
Fisher was asked if he would accept the apology.
