It hurts to know that Chappelle's transphobia wasn't enough to keep him off the show.

According to Morgan, Chappelle made a joke about the gender identification of his attacker's weapon. Police said the suspect was armed with a replica gun.
He made a joke about how the guy had a knife that looked like a gun. Or the other way around. He said that it could have been a knife or a gun. It reminded me of a joke that transphobes make.

Madison said that Chappelle's set felt like conservative Facebook humor.
He pulled out twin boys from the crowd and said they were gay and jerking each other off. It took so long that it was exhausting.

You're a trans person in the audience who didn't know the transphobic comedian would make a surprise appearance at the John, and you're laughing at a transphobic joke.
It was embarrassing to see a revered man in his craft become so tacky and boomer-esque.

The fact that Dave Chapelle was open for John Mulaney's show tonight is deeply disappointing and upsetting. I'm positive there were many.
I have a lot of trans friends, and I'm gay, so I was really disappointed that Dave was allowed to perform given that he has a history of transphobic jokes.
Some Mulaney fans felt let down by what they said was the comedian's recent downfall.

She is still holding out hope that Mulaney will address the criticism directed at him over Chappelle's jokes.
I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but it is nice that a lot of people in my state don't agree with Chappelle's ideas.
Representatives for Mulaney and Chappelle did not respond to the request for comment.
