Reggie Bullock, a guard for the Dallas Mavericks, was named the winner of the social justice champion award.

Reggie Bullock appears to have won the NBA’s 2022 Kareem Abdul-Jabaar Social Champion award, per his Instagram story.

The news was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

The award has been given to two players since its inception last year, with the other one being Carmelo Anthony. A $100,000 donation can be made on the recipient's behalf to a social justice organization.

The award is given to a current NBA player who pursues social justice and advances Abdul-Jabbar's life mission to engage, empower and drive equality for individuals and groups who have been historically marginalized or systemically disadvantaged.

The four runners-up will choose an organization, and the other finalist was Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday.

For much of his NBA career, Bullock has been an advocate for LGBTQ equity. His sister was murdered. RemarkaBULL is a social enterprise that provides revitalized spaces, housing and businesses based on the needs of the community. The Foundation focuses on support for the LGBTQ community.

The Resource Center, Abounding Prosperity, Dallas Southern Pride, Black-Tie Dinner, and the Muhlaysia Booker Foundation are all Dallas-based organizations that have formed relationships with Bullock since he joined the Mavericks.

The 31-year-old recently participated in a panel discussion as part of the HUDDLE series to help the trans community, amplify community organizations who are working to support and protect individuals and create opportunities for allyship. The conversation was released on International Day of Trans Visibility.

The NYC Pride March, the GLAAD Media Awards and NBA events for LGBTQ youth and allies are just some of the national events that Bullock has been involved in. Kinston Teens received the donation.
